Natural-Historical Park “Izmailovo”
Natural-Historical Park “Izmailovo” lies in the East of Moscow and includes the Izmailovsky Forest and Serebryano-Vinogradny (Silver-Grapes) Pond adjacent to it with the Izmailovsky Island. The Izmailovsky Forest is one of the biggest forest areas of Moscow.
Modern natural-historical park takes a large part of the former Izmailovo tsar’s manor that was laid out by the tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in the middle of the XVII century.
The biggest sight of the park is old broad-leaved forests where the largest area is taken by birch woods. Pine woods grow mainly in the Eastern part of the park. Near the Red Pond there is a unique 130-year-old larch grove.
